Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Soft drinks, sparkling water, beer and wine available for purchase. Please do not bring in your own alcohol, including those purchased downstairs.

Advance tickets are currently available online via the Arts Council’s Square commerce page (opens in new window/tab). Please print the receipt or keep a digital copy (confirmation email is fine) to use as your ticket.

Advance purchase tickets may be purchased in-person via credit card, check or cash at FireLight Gallery & Framing. The printed sales receipt serves as the ticket to the event. Advance sales (online and in-person) will end 4 hours (2:30 p.m.) prior to doors opening.

Admission will also be available at the door.

We define “family” as immediate family members. The intent is to cap total admission costs for parent/guardian(s) and their children.

Band Bios

Matthew Johnson

Matthew Johnson, Alaska born and raised musician, has been listening to and playing bluegrass music since his early childhood spent growing up in the woods. Following the rythymn and footsteps of his idols (Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Carl Hoffman and the likes) has help him find his boisterous, soulful voice, clear, crisp guitar licks, and beautifully timed mandolin strums. He spent 14 years as Carl Hoffman’s mandolin player and tenor singer in Northern River. He’s been in the bluegrass music scene from Alaska to Austin, Texas and all places in between.

Laura Davis Collins

Laura Davis Collins was born and raised in southeast Virginia, singing harmonies with her sister at church. She developed an ear for bass lines playing bassoon in high school band and orchestra and picked up playing guitar in college in southwest Virginia, where she learned to love bluegrass. In 2007, Laura moved to Nome, AK and picked up the bass in 2011 to join the Nome-based old time string band Landbridge Tollbooth. She’s played music with Lorne and Matt off and on for over 10 years.

Lorne Carroll

Lorne Carroll, while he wasn’t born in Alaska he got here as quick as he could in the winter of 2009. He’s been fueled by the bluegrass beat for decades and is influenced by David Grisman, Andy Statman, and a long, long list of others. You might find him and that 1996 Flatiron Performer F behind the Gold Dust Saloon, inside the Down East Saloon or anywhere in-betweens.
